Jose spent 19 years in the Major Leagues, playing for St. Louis, Houston, and the New York Yankees. Won the Silver Slugger Award in both 1983 and 1984 and was an NL All-Star in 1980 and 1985. Part of the famous Cruz baseball family with brothers Hector and Tommy and son, Jose Cruz Jr. Jose graciously signed my card and index card in fifteen days care of the Houston Astros.
