Mitch Lyden 1993 Topps Traded
Obtained: In person, 2000 as batboy for Ambassadors
Mitch was a pretty funny guy, joking that "I forgot I even had a card." This Mitch's only officially liscensed Major League card. One of the few guys to hit a homerun in the first Major League at-bat. One of my favorite autographs in my collection.
Mitch was drafted in the fourth round of the '83 draft by the Yankees, signed June 17. He made his Major League debut on June 16, 1993, nearly ten years to the day. Amazingly, after 1993, Mitch was never called back up to the Majors, even after going 3 for 10 in his call-ups. I guess it didn't help his cause that Benito Santiago was already on the big club and Charles Johnson was cutting his teeth in the minors.
