Joe Rudi saw his career take off in the early '70s with the Oakland A's. Three All-Star games ('72, '74-'75), three straight Gold Gloves in the outfield ('74-'76), and was an integral part of the three Oakland World Series champs ('72-'74). Finished second in MVP balloting in 1974 to Jeff Burroughs, but split first place votes with fellow Athletics Sal Bando, Reggie Jackson, and Catfish Hunter.
