Phil Rizzuto 2001 Donruss Signature Series
Obtained: Via pack in 2002.
Many believe that Scooter is the least deserving member of the Hall of Fame, in a tight race with Richie Ashburn. I tend to disagree but will admit that playing for the Yankees definately had it's benefits; in New York, he had a hand in winning seven World Series and becoming a five time All-Star.
Phil also won the 1950 MVP. The .273 average and only 1588 career hits is a scary stat, especially when you consider he only had 38 career homeruns and 149 stolen bases.
However, it should be stated and admired that Phil missed the 1943-1945 seasons serving in the US Armed Forces. Phil is a character guy and deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. I wish him the best of health.
