Ken Griffey Jr. 2004 Sweet Spot Signatures
Obtained: Purchased on eBay, October 2006.
Growing up, there was absolutely no one more exciting to watch play the game than Ken Griffey Jr. Griffey was the first pick of the 1987 draft, selected by the Seattle Mariners. He would spend eleven seasons in Seattle, making the AL All-Star squad ten consecutive times, while winning ten straight Gold Gloves in the same span, and picking up seven AL Silver Slugger awards in the process. He would lead the AL in homeruns four times, win the 1997 MVP award, as well the 1992 All-Star game MVP award. Was traded to Cincinatti, where his pace has has slowed down, but he still chips away at homerun records. Griffey would make the All-Star teams in 2000 and 2005, and finished the 2006 season with 563 homeruns, good enough for second on the active list and tenth all-time.
