Chipper Jones 1997 Topps Chrome
Obtained: Through the mail. Sent 1998, received 2001.
Chipper was drafted first overall in the 1990 draft and has lived up to every expectation since. He has played in six All-Star games, won two consecutive Silver Sluggers at third base ('99-'00), and won the NL MVP in 1999. Versitile, playing both infield and outfield, Chipper has been a force on eleven straight division winners, including a World Series win in his 1995 rookie season, in which he finished 14 points off of Rookie of the Year Hideo Nomo for the honor.
Interesting story about the autograph: I had completely written it off and forgotten about it, forgot I even sent it. Until I got an envelope in the mail from what was written by what appeared to be an eleven year old. It was written by an eleven year old, back in 1998. Chipper is a great player, and seemingly, a great guy. Any guy who signs every last one of his requests, even if it takes years, is perfectly OK in my book.
