The Mets joined the National League in 1962 following the New York depatures of the Dodgers and Giants. The Mets have won two World Series, their first in 1969 and their second in 1986 and have won four total National League pennants. They have retired three numbers: 14, Gil Hodges, 37, Casey Stengel, and 41, Tom Seaver.
