Darren Daulton 1990 Donruss NL Best
Obtained: In person, Veterans' Stadium, 1993.
As a kid, Daulton was everything I wanted to be. A pro-ball player who played hard on the field, was great off of it, handsome, and modest. Unfortunately, Darren seems to have seen better days mentally, now claiming the civilization will end as we know it on 12-12-12, the end of the Mayan calander.
Darren had a fine career as a Phillie, beginning in 1983 as a September call-up for the NL winning Phils. Won the Silver Slugger as a catcher in 1992, when he led the NL in RBIs and represented the NL in 1992, 1993, and 1995 in the All-Star game. Came close to a World Series in 1993 with the NL Champion Phils until Joe Carter ended those plans. Ended up winning the big one four seasons later, as a mid-season trade sent Daulton to the eventual World Series winners, the Florida Marlins.
