Bochtler was a ninth round selection in 1989 for the Montreal Expos and was the Rockies 32nd pick in the 1992 Expansion draft. His first Major League action came with the Padres on May 5, 1995. His career line was 9-18 as a reliever, with six saves with a 4.57 ERA. His final game after six years in the Majors came as a Kansas City Royal on July 22, 2000.
