The Detroit Tigers were an innagural member of the American League, joining in 1901. The Tigers have won four World Series and ten American League Pennants, the last World Series win coming in 1984 against the San Diego Padres. The first Major League team in Detroit was actually the Detroit Wolverines, who survived in the National League from 1881 to 1888, winning their only pennant in 1887.
