San Diego entered the National League in 1969, playing their first game April 8, 1969. They are represented in the Hall of Fame by Dave Winfield, the 1973 number one overall pick, and have won two pennants, once in 1984 and again in 1998. They have retired four numbers: 6, Steve Garvey, 19, Tony Gwynn, 31, Dave Winfield, and 35, Randy Jones.
