Obtained: Through the mail. Sent: November 2, 2006 c/o Home; Received: November 6, 2006. 4 Days.
Jackson signed with the Philadelphia Phillies as a free agent in 1961 and would make his Major League debut at age 22 in 1965. He was used primarily as a reliever until 1969, when he started 35 games and pitched in three others, on the way to making his only All-Star team, finishing the season with a 14-18 record with a 3.34 ERA. Jackson would go 5-15 the next season with the Phils and go back to the bullpen in 1971 with the Orioles. Grant would pitch in 692 games, finishing his career with an 86-75 record, a 3.46 ERA, and a World Series ring with the 1979 Pittsburgh Pirates. Mr. Jackson kindly signed my 1981 Topps cards in four days, tying him for my fastest success ever, and added a 3x5 card of his own; thanks Mr. Jackson!
