Kelly was signed as an amateur free agent by the New York Yankees in 1982 at the age of 17. He was an All-Star twice, in 1992 and 1993, and wound up playing fourteen seasons in the Major Leagues. Kelly finished his career with a .290 batting average and 124 homeruns while playing with eight teams.
