Turk was taken in the fifth round of the 1988 draft by the Atlanta Braves out of Quinnipiac University. Pitched for four teams as a reliever over eleven seasons, compiling a 36-33 record, 33 saves and a 3.93 ERA. One of the game's most superstitious players, Turk would always jump over the lines as he entered and exited the fields, as well as wearing his signature shark teeth.
