Tom was signed as an amateur free agent in 1974 by the St. Louis Cardinals. He would go on to be the starting second baseman on the 1982 World Series Champion Cardinals, contributing two doubles in the World Series. Herr made the All-Star team in 1985, finishing thrid in the league in doubles and fifth in MVP voting. I remember him most for his short stint with the Phillies, one of five teams he played with in thirteen seasons. Tom signed and returned three of four cards in six days. Thanks Mr. Herr!
