The Astros entered the National League in 1962 as the Colt .45's but changed their name after the 1964 season. The team made their first playoff appearance in 1980, winning the National League West but losing to the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League Championship series. The Astros won their first pennant in 2005, but were swept by the Chicago White Sox in four close games.
