Poole was a ninth round draft pick in 1988 of the Los Angeles Dodgers and made his debut at the age of 24 on June 15, 1990, striking out the only batter he faced. He played for eight teams in eleven seasons, pitching in 431 games and 363 innings. Reached the World Series in 1995 as a member of the Indians and gave up the deciding run of the series in the 1-0 Game Six win for the Braves. Poole would rejoin the Indians for two more stints, including their 1998 playoff run in which they bowed out to the Yankees 4-2 in the ALCS.
